چکیده
Objective: To determine the frequency, demographic and clinical features of heterotopic gastric mucosa (inlet patch).
Methods: This retrospective study involves 244 patients who applied to gastroenterology outpatient clinic with different symptoms between September 2016 December 2019, were diagnosed inlet patch in elective esophagogastroduodenoscopy. All endoscopic procedures performed by same endoscopist. medical records including endoscopy findings reviewed.
Results: Considering 2823 underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy period, was detected 224 (8.6%). The number male 138 (56.6%) there no statistical difference two genders. mean age 37.73 ± 13.01 years. Single lesion 204 (83.6%) patients. size largest 4.5 cm smallest 0.3 cm. lesions proximal esophagus. 54 (22.1%) had at least one supraesophageal or upper esophageal symptom. most common symptom globus sensation (64.8%). Patients large more likely experience (28.2% vs. 13.7%, p=0.008). Conclusion: Careful examination esophagus may increase chance detecting explain persistent without a specific cause. Further understanding significance disease also prevent unnecessary diagnostic interventions.

A 62-year-old man was referred for further diagnostic work-up and treatment of a focal lesionwithin a large area of ectopic gastric mucosa (EGM) in the proximal esophagus. The lesion was diagnosed during an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy which had been performed because of suspected gastroesophageal reflux disease. We confirmed a semicircumferential area of ectopic gastric mucosa reaching fro...

The contour of this lesion was smooth and there was no disruption of the surrounding folds, nor ulc...
متن کاملEsophageal Inlet Patch
An inlet patch is a congenital anomaly consisting of ectopic gastric mucosa at or just distal to the upper esophageal sphincter. Most inlet patches are largely asymptomatic, but in problematic cases complications related to acid secretion such as esophagitis, ulcer, web and stricture may occur. The diagnosis of inlet patch is strongly suggested on barium swallow where the most common pattern co...

Heterotopic gastric mucosa in the upper esophagus is frequently found during endoscopic examination. Although most patients with heterotopic gastric mucosa of the upper esophagus, referred as inlet patch, are asymptomatic, symptomatic patients with complications resulting from this ectopic mucosa have also been reported. Acid secretion by the inlet patch has been suggested in some reports. We r...
